Promoting Maternal Mental Health --Training in Seattle August 4 & 5, 2008 or On-Site

Training for Promoting Maternal Mental Health During Pregnancy is now available either on-site or in Seattle. This highly regarded two-day program is taught by knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructors with extensive experience working with pregnant women. We have received outstanding feedback regarding the expert level of instruction and immediate applicability of materials/interventions into practice upon completion of the training.

Even if you have already purchased the manual and materials but could benefit from an intensive “how to” workshop in implementing the program interventions into your practice, we invite you to consider bringing this training directly to your agency.

Why Promote Maternal Mental Health During Pregnancy?

Research has shown that a mother’s mental health and emotional state during pregnancy has an immediate and direct impact on her lifelong relationship with her infant. In turn, the health of the mother-child relationship directly impacts the child’s quality of life, possibly throughout the lifespan. By helping the pregnant woman improve her mental and emotional state during pregnancy, we are able to increase the chances that she and her child will experience a healthier relationship.

Promoting Maternal Mental health During Pregnancy by JoAnne Solchany, RN, PhD, addresses a woman’s psychological and emotional state during pregnancy. The program includes the normal, typical course of pregnancy, high risk pregnancies, domestic violence, pregnant women with unresolved grief of loss, and those women experiencing depression or other mental health disruptions. It also covers issues critical to the development of the early mother-child relationship.

Course topics include:

  • Pregnancy Studies/Beliefs
  • Risk Factors
  • Rubin’s Tasks
  • Mother-Child Relationship
  • Issues in Pregnancy
  • Social Support
  • Trauma & Loss
  • Depression/Anxiety
  • Assessment in Pregnancy
