Personal Environment Assessments (PEA)

 

The CLS is a 33-item yes/no scale that you can use to assess your client's use community resources and their ability to negotiate for self and family in the community. The 33 items cover six major categories:

•  Transportation
•  Budgeting
•  Support Services 
•  Support Involvement
•  Interests-Hobbies
•  Regularity-Organization-Routines

 You will find the CLS useful for gathering baseline and outcome data about your clients' use of community resources, identifying strengths and needs, facilitating mutual goal setting, and evaluating change as a result of intervention. This assessment is administered as an interview.  (100/Pad)  On back order, available September 1st

The Community Life Skills Manual contains information on the background, how to use the CLS scale and interpret scores and a standardized description of each item in the inventory.

The DLC is a 28-item yes/no scale that assesses the existence of stressors or chronic problems in families. You can administer it as a self-report instrument or interview. The tool is unique in asking important sensitive questions such as substance abuse and physical abuse of self or a child without placing blame. You will be alerted to issues within the environment by the responses. Responses to the questions are the client's perception of whether or not a problem exists. The Difficult Life Circumstances Manual provides background material, suggestions for use in clinical and research settings, and information on how to interpret the scores.

The Network Survey lets you examine the amount and quality of both the personal  and professional support available to your client. It is also useful as a teaching tool, helping people become aware of the importance of their social network and ways to network resources for managing stressful events in their lives.
